There was a Boy Scouts winter camp last weekend and one of the troop leaders had a baby on Friday, so they needed a chaperone to help the other camp leader. Since we were on a Med Assist, they were able to pull one of us (lucky me) to go to the camp. There were 17 middle and high schoolers. It just so happened that it got very cold over the weekend which started out with rain. I tried to stay warm but even with a t-shirt, a thermal t-shirt, a long sleeved shirt, a sweatshirt, a Columbia jacket, and an LL Bean vest, I was still cold. On Sunday morning, I woke up in my tent and went to get a drink of water, but my water bottle had frozen solid and it was 15 degrees out. Luckily, Sunday was the last working day in our rotation, so I was able to get warm and sleep for basically three days.

At the camp site.

Our luxurious toilet facility. It was a bit chilly having to go in the middle of the night.

This was our camp site. Notice the windows in the tents. They are screened but don't have a covering, so the air was the same inside of the tent as it was outside of the tent.

Oh, what a beautiful morning!

On Saturday, they got the portable fire pits out. It was a welcome relief!

This was our headquarters. We had comfy chairs but it was warmer by the fire so that is where I spent most of my time.

No, this isn't a sacrifice to the turkey gods. We actually cooked a turkey in a fire pit with 4 columns of charcoal briquets. The briquets were getting started in the starter cans. We wrapped foil around it to make an oven.

Yummy! It was a hit with the scouts.

Hot Chocolate never tasted soooooo good!

Hey, it warmed up by 1 degree!

The creek was half frozen.
